Clair Hills Winter Classic Cancelled
Dear Neighbours,
As a result of unpredictable weather conditions and safety concerns, the CHCA board of directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the Winter Classic scheduled for this Saturday February 6, 2016.
The board discussed and brainstormed many options to host an adapted Winter Classic or postpone it. Unfortunately the weather forecast is strongly indicating that we would not have a rink or snow, and be left with a very icy and unsafe gathering area. The timing of Family Day and Winterloo does not allow us to postpone the event without competing against already busy weekends.
We would like to thank all our volunteers who have worked hard to prepare for the event as well as our vendors who have been very understanding and accommodating.
It is important to note that our efforts to restore and maintain the ice rink will continue. Our ice rink volunteers work day and night to help build the ice. If you are interested in volunteering, please email rink@clair-hills.ca. The rink schedule is available online and is subject to weather conditions. The CHCA will post when the rink is opened (or closed) on Twitter and Facebook. When the rink is not safe for use, it will be marked with caution tape.
We encourage you to attend the City of Waterloo’s Winterloo event the weekend of February 26 to experience some of the fun that we had planned to replicate at our Winter Classic.
The CHCA is committed to organizing and hosting community events, and is already working on its annual Spring Clean Up, Yard Sale and Fall Fun Fest. If you have ideas for events, please email events@clair-hills.ca.
If you have any questions about the Winter Classic, please email president@clair-hills.ca. We apologize for any inconvenience this event cancellation has caused.
Sincerely,
The CHCA Board of Directors and Volunteers
