We have awesome events because we have awesome volunteers!

This past week marked yet another busy time for the Clair Hills Community Association.

On Saturday we hosted our annual yard sale which saw approximately 30 houses in our neighbourhood open up their driveways to the public to sell everything from toys to paintings, and foosball tables to patio sets. There were at least two lemonade stands selling refreshments for the passersby, and lots of residents making friendly conversation along the way.

A special thank you to our dedicated volunteers for ensuring another successful yard sale. Our Business Affairs Director, Scott, helped print and display our colourful signage around the neighbourhood. Jeff, our Treasurer, ensured our event was advertised in local papers, and our Events Coordinator, Jamie, took care of organizing all our RSVPs to create the helpful online map of sellers. Our social media team also took to Twitter to promote the event and had great support from many of our connected volunteers and residents, so thanks to our followers for all the retweets and conversations!

On Sunday, our newly formed Parents of Clair Hills group held their second Coffee in the Park event at Boon Park on Brandenburg Ave. Parents with young children connected with one another in the park over coffee, discussing everything from stroller designs to vegetable gardening. The turnout was fantastic and the weather held up so everyone stayed dry.

A special thank you to our Parents Group Coordinator, Diana, for helping launch this unique initiative and organizing Coffee in the Park. For more information on the Parents of Clair Hills, please visit our dedicated webpage here.

The Clair Hills Community Association is comprised of a small number of truly dedicated and passionate volunteers. Together they help bring residents together by coordinating and hosting events such as the ones mentioned above. During the summer months we will be participating in the Open Streets UpTown Waterloo series by offering some of our volunteer services at one of the four events, and also planning our Park Launch Party in conjunction with our annual Fall Fun Fest.

We always need help and ask our residents to consider donating some of their time by volunteering with us. If you want to learn more about our association and how you can volunteer at an event or on an ongoing basis, join us on June 11th for our monthly meeting or email communications@clair-hills.ca for more information. You can also check out our current volunteer opportunities here.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
